Things to do in Antalya
Experiential guides to help you plan Antalya — how to spend your days, chosen experiences and insider tips.
Antalya pairs a walkable old town with a coastline of ancient cities, waterfalls and boat trips. It is as much a culture base as a beach one.
- 1
Wander Kaleiçi's lanes
The walled old town is a maze of Ottoman houses, Roman gates and a pretty harbour, best explored on foot. Hadrian's Gate and the fluted minaret are the landmarks to aim for.
- 2
Stand in an ancient theatre
Day-trip to Aspendos, whose Roman theatre is among the best preserved anywhere, or to the ruined coastal cities of Perge and Side.
- 3
Chase the waterfalls
The Düden falls tumble straight into the sea on the city's edge, while the Kurşunlu and Upper Düden falls sit in shady parks. An easy half-day.
- 4
Take a boat along the coast
Cruises from the old harbour slip beneath the cliffs to swim stops and hidden coves. Longer trips reach the sunken ruins near Kekova.
- 5
Ride the cable car up Tünektepe
A quick gondola lifts you above Konyaaltı for sweeping views over the gulf and the Beydağları mountains, spectacular at sunset.
- 6
Raft the Köprülü Canyon
Inland, the Köprüçay river runs through a pine-clad gorge for a half-day of gentle white water, a cool escape from the summer heat.
